This report is for anyone working towards improving hygiene practices in schools and the universal availability of safe drinking water. The aim of accelerating WASH in Schools is in order to promote enrolment and retention – particularly for girls and disadvantaged groups; review and strengthen the monitoring systems; and to review participatory practices for WASH in Schools programming. It covers the importance of WASH in Schools, as well as looking at specific countries and where they are currently and the schemes they have in place. Finally it looks at positive developments and common challenges and how to move forwards.
